The National Environmental Strategy of Panamá, formulated in 1998 –1999 enunciates in its numeral referent to SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF BOCAS DEL TORO, TERRITORIES AND INDIGENOUS DISTRICTS OF THE REGION, that as strategic point toward 2005, “we should promote the conservation of protected areas like The International Park La Amistad, The Bastimentos National Park, The Humedal of San San, The protected forest of Palo Seco and The Fortuna Forest Reserve, through ecotouristic activities and environmental education based on handling plans and an ample citizen participation". In this context EGE Fortuna, S. A. made an environmental audit to elaborate the adaptation plan and environmental handling. This constitutes an example of how the private enterprise and the State can collaborate to achieve the important objective of protecting the treasure that contain the protected areas.
