Abstract

We present 63 spider prey records for the following 12 genera of Pompilidae: Ageniella, Anoplius, Aporus, Auplopus, Cryptocheilus, Entypus, Pepsis, Poecilopompilus, Priochilus, Priocnemella, Priocnessus y Tachypompilus. Additionally, we report the first prey record for Atopagenia menkei Wasbauer, 1987: Olios sp. (Araneae: Sparassidae). Information about the unusual behaviour of Priocnessus prominens Dreisbach, 1960 and Priochilus scrupulum (Fox, 1897) is here presented, females use paralyzed spiders as a food source and not as food for their larvae. We present information about construction of mud cells by Priochilus captivum (Fabricius, 1804), a species that we have found is used as host by Plega sp. (Neuroptera: Mantispidae). Information about the nesting behaviour of Priochilus gloriosum gloriosum (Cresson, 1869) is presented. New distribution records for Panama include the genus Cryptocheilus and the following three species: Priocnessus prominens Dreisbach, Priochilus regius Fabricius and Priochilus formosum hondurense Dreisbach. In addition, Priocnessus neotropicalis (Cameron) is reported for the first time for Costa Rica.
