Republic of Panama. A total of nine limnetic zooplankton species (six cladocerans and three copepods) has been determined in eight lacustrine systems of Panama (Gatun lake, Bayano lake, Alajuela lake, Miraflores lake, Fortuna lake, La Yeguada lagoon, Las Cumbres lake and Cerro Azul lake). One inquires about four different distribution patterns from our limnetic microcrustaceans, that is to say: with a single dominant species of cyclopoid copepod as it is observed in La Yeguada lagoon and Fortuna lake, with two copepod species being the calanoid the dominant one as it is observed in Gatun, Bayano and Miraflores lakes, with two species of copepods being the ciclopoid the dominant one, as it is observed in the Alajuela lake and with a single dominant calanoid copepod species as seen in Cerro Azul lake.
