Panama has more than 10,000 species of higher plants and 14% of these are   endemics. In the Fortuna Forest Reserve there are 53 endemic species. Among   these, there are lO with the fortuna or hornito epithet as remembrance for the site   when they were founds. The orographic and cloud forest condition explain the   Fortuna endemism. With more research it is possible to find more endemic species.
