Abstract

In this work we describe the use of turbidity measurements as a proxy for suspended sediment. Research Scientists from Institute for Marine and Coastal Sciences, Rutgers University (New Jersey, USA) set out to characterize the turbidity maxima on the lower Passaic River (New Jersey) using optical equipment (OBS-3 units). The equipment worked successfully in that the turbidity maximum was clearly localized.
