In Panama, little is known about the diet of the jaguar (Panthera onca), therefore an ecological study was carried out on the jaguar, other felines and their prey in the area of Cana, Darien National Park. In this paper, preliminary data on the feeding habits of jaguars and pumas (Puma concolor) in Cana is given, from different months (n=8) from 2004 to 2007 with a total of 368 km traveled. The scats were collected along the trails or paths, they were washed and identified. The remainders of prey were identified by the association of tracks and the behavior of predation of each species of cat. It was found that the Bradypus variegatus, Pecari tajacu and Tayassu pecari are important for pumas and jaguars. The diet was very similar in the two species (W = 58,5; P = 0.152), thus concluding that up to now mammals are the main prey of these two species of cats, as described by other researchers.
