Abstract

A checklist of Pompilidae wasps from Darien National Park (DNP) is presented. The specimens were captured near to the Biological Stations of Cana, Cruce de Mono and Rancho Frio, using Malaise traps, yellow pan traps and entomological nets. The 2715 specimens collected in DNP, represent 4 families, 25 genera and 92 species. These are the first records for Panama for the following six species: Notocyphus thetis Banks, 1945, Irenangelus crossopus Kimsey & Wasbauer, 2004, Priocnessus grandis Dreisbach, 1961, Ageniella (Alasagenia) pilifrons (Cameron, 1912), Agenioideus accoleus (Banks, 1947), and Psorthaspis laevifrons (Cresson, 1869). Trapped specimens included new species belonging to the genera: Ageniella, Caliadurgus, Dipogon, Minagenia, Mystacagenia, Balboana, Epipompilus, Notocyphus, and Priocnemella. Information on the generic diversity of Pompilidae is presented, and is compared with that of Costa Rica.
