Abstract

The buildings are exposed to daylight during the day, however, it is not always used in the best way. On the other hand, direct solar radiation must be efficiently controlled to avoid glare, heating of internal environments and, the consequent higher electricity consumption of the air conditioning system. In this work, the levels of daylight are measured in room 211 of the Faculty of Architecture and Design of the University of Panama (FADUP). Illuminance measurements are made with four EXTECH SD 4000 luxmeters on a sunny day and a rainy day and, also the internal space was modeled to compare and verify the dynamics of daylight. On a sunny day, lux levels outside averaged 64,200lux, while inside room 211 it was 119lux. During the rainy day, the average was only 2.446lux outside and barely 10lux inside.
