Abstract

A study of the thermal performance of a construction system (CS) for walls, formed by differentiated layers of flaked PET (FPET) and soil, is presented. The software Ener-habitat is used to calculate the thermal performance of the SC, considering the characteristics of a warm climate of Mexico and a condition of nonuse of HVAC. The results of the thermal performance of the CS with FPET and soil are compared with the results of two CS formed by layers of materials commonly used in the construction industry. This comparison provides a first approximation of the viability of the incorporation of the FPET in CS for walls.
