Air quality is an important factor that directly influences the health of the population, since a high level of pollutants in the air could trigger serious respiratory diseases in the long term. This study was designed to determine the air quality and pollutant levels in strategic sectors of Ancón: one (1) on Ascanio Arosemena Avenue, the second (2) on the balcony of a residence facing Ancón Avenue and finally, the third (3) in Calle Cascadas, comparing the configuration of the environment of each one of the sectors. In this study, continuous measurements were made using the air quality sensor (Temtop m2000 Weather Station) at 15 minutes intervals between 9:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in each of these sectors. Regarding the results, it was possible to determine that the levels of contaminants are safe in accordance with standard 2610-EAC-109 AMBIENT AIR QUALITY STANDARD of the Panama Canal.
