Abstract

Due to the great increase of the population in the city of Panama, the idea arises to investigate the behavior of the pedestrian flow in the perimeter of the buildings. For this study, the Hatillo building (El Municipio de Panamá) was chosen; Taking into account the climatic aspects, the time, the activities that occur in the site and their importance. Taking into account that the main function of the building is the processes of municipal procedures (Fine Payment, Construction Permit, Approval of Plans, etc.). The building is attended by a large volume of people day by day using it and as a transition point between Cuba Avenue and Justo Arosemena Avenue. Buildings such as this are of paramount importance in architecture and urban planning in society, such as the integration of pedestrian crossings with large sidewalks, green areas, cross ventilation, social spaces and small business areas. The majority (41.4%) of pedestrians circulate in the perimeter area near the building.
