Abstract

The crowding of buildings and the significant lack of green spaces intensify urban climate problems such as urban heat islands and lack of ventilation. This study analyzes an environment of one (1) km2 in the San Francisco, Panamá City with emphasis on the axis of Calle 74 Este in which the altimetry study was carried out and the incidence of shadows of the buildings was projected. The main objective of this research is to carry out an urban reading at the climatic level based on the collection of data such as urban morphology, the height of buildings, shadow projections at separate times of the day in June, calculations of the H / W and SVF and the number of green areas. Where the results indicate that in Calle 74 Este presents a division of shadow coverage throughout the day, divided into the northern sector which receives the highest incidence of shadows in the morning hours and during the afternoon and the southern sector has more coverage of Shadows even though both sectors that are distributed, along Calle 74 Este, have buildings that exceed 30 floors.
