Abstract

The study focused on investigating the relationship between road infrastructure and urban mobility in the area of East Panama, using household surveys as the main methodology and their subsequent validation in the field through tours of the different townships in the study area. A sample of 213 participants was obtained, selected by means of a probabilistic random purposive sampling that guaranteed a significant representation of the population. The survey provided data on aspects such as the frequency of flooding in the streets, the presence of road signs and accessibility to health care services, among other determinants of the quality of life in the area. In relation to the condition of the roads, the study identified deficiencies such as potholes and lack of adequate maintenance. These conditions not only affect the comfort of road users, but also pose risks to traffic safety. Field validation supported these findings, making this study particularly relevant in highlighting the need for government interventions to improve road infrastructure and ensure safe and efficient mobility in East Panama. The implementation of corrective measures will not only improve the quality of life of residents but will also contribute to the sustainable development and overall well-being of the community of East Panama.
