This essay aims to analyze –from a philosophical perspective and through the literary tool of dialogue– the confrontation of Stoic, Epicurean, and Skeptical views on destiny and human agency. Through a methodology of philosophical exegesis and textual exposition, a humanistic approach is adopted that privileges the concepts of embodied cognition and marginality. The analysis is based on the primary dialogue as the main source and on secondary sources of Hellenistic philosophy. The theoretical approach focuses on the tension between determinism and free will. The main conclusion is that the embodied and situated experience of marginality, represented by the prostitute, serves as a fundamental epistemological critique of abstract philosophical systems, revealing that the answer to the problem of freedom is existential rather than purely theoretical.
