The purpose of this article is to analyze the attempt to establish a republican regime on the island of Amelia, Florida peninsula, in 1817 by patriot agents residing in Philadelphia since the insurgent recess of 1815. We want to know the attempt beyond the dominant premise and enrichment of its main architects, that is why we believe it pertinent to rescue and reevaluate this event considering the profile of the deputies who within Spanish America were not beginners in the discussion of new forms of politics which came from the crisis of the system Spanish monarchist started in 1808. With this we try to broaden the perspective of the so-called emancipatory process beyond the borders of the resulting national states, and to establish that the Monroist vision of North American expansion sheds light on the fact that in North American territory the interference of any foreign nation on American soil, supported by the historical and theological background of Manifest Destiny that dates back to the 16th century and arises from the opposition between the Spanish counter-reformation and the reformist modernity of the British. This doctrine was picked up by the North Americans to justify their predestined imperialism, which discriminates between the elect and the reprobates.
