This essay presents the advances of the bibliographic review carried out within the framework of doctoral studies on the metaliterary resource, as a self-reflective area of writing, with the function of comment within literary production, to sustain the return effect to the historical cultural reality of the settled coloniality that has not been overcome in Panama, but this return is literary, because historical literature expresses; however, it is not written as metaliterature. Before the essential objective of the study: to transmit specialized knowledge based on current theoretical lines, the results have been of great benefit since literary productions demonstrate the important presence of metaliterary treatment and international reference adapted by creative competence of Panamanian writers.
