Abstract

By studying planning and national territorial management, it is fundamental to revise existing evidence of them through times (1960-2010). They are characterized by presenting a diagnosis of a specific period, as well as its projection in time and space, that is to say, it was planned for the future of the country, and the population. Among the objectives of this research is to publicize documents that were divulged by the former Ministry of Planning and Economic Policy (MIPPE); it is important to highlight that the rest of the State institutions, as well as the University of Panama, have worked on these issues, and some of those results will be presented. The merger of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Policy with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, result in the creation of the Ministry of Economy and Finances (MEF), and prioritized other issues related to economy and finance. I believe that with the creation of the Planning Institute (2021) attached to the Ministry of Economy and Finances, as well as with the Decentralization Law, and the Planning Directorate of each municipality, it will be possible the use of the territory in a sustainable way and improve the quality of life of the population.
