The dissertation on “the dynamics of the Panamanian Urban Space”, starts with the geographic characterization of the country and by accounting the works that have been done through time. It highlights the demographic mobility in different directions and densities, and those that came from different countries. It outstands the consolidation and centralizations shown by the metropolitan area and particularly, Panama City, as the center of attraction, due to its function as a transit city and its great economic development is highlighted. Originally, the urban centers were the result of planning, but later their growth has been disorderly without land use planning or management.
Another aspect is the sprout of spontaneous settlements, tied up to social and economic difficulties, the so-called pockets of poverty. We consider that it is important to present the urban growth in Panama in five stages developed throughout two centuries, XX and XXI (2022). For the present document I have documented the information that studied the theme in various periods of time. Therefore we present the urban studies called: Plan, Master Plans, Development Plan and other analyses performed by institutions and distinguished professionals of the urban environment. Likewise the Panamanian urban development, and its characteristics are outlined. Issues related to aspects related to the urban poverty and the problems that affect urban centers are presented with different dimensions, based on their development.
Mostly the disorderly and fragmented increased of the cities, obeys generally, to the lack and no implementation of a planning of the urban space.
