This analysis is based on the relevance of the reconfiguration of merchandise marketing processes at the regional level, by supranational provisions and the impact on the economic agents of the Republic of Panama, through the legal and economic effects of advances in the implementation of the roadmap of the Central American customs union process in the Republic of Panama, from its incorporation into the Central American economic subsystem in 2013. The analysis is descriptive with a mixed approach, since it seeks to describe the current situation of the Central American customs union process and the results up to the moment of incorporation into the regional economic subsystem, in addition to establishing the future challenges that the process entails, through the analysis of documents, in-depth interviews and surveys. We conclude that the main challenge of customs integration for the case of Panama is the current regulations, free trade agreements and the strengthening of the border crossing for international trade and the flow of carriers, as well as the paperwork that must be aligned.
