Abstract

This paper studies the topic concerning the Choice in the ancient malecu philosophy, throughout the figure of the feline. It centers on the analysis of the three phases of the Choice and its characteristics: Initial Phase (knowledge and will), Deepening Phase (object, intentionality, and circumstances), and Foresight Phase (balance of possible consequences). Text XI of Pláticas sobre Felinos (Talks about Felines) was selected, because it presents two situations that gives way to two distinct choosing acts: to kill the big feline, and to obey the God of the Nharíne river Headwaters. Both of them are embraced under the threat of the same event, a cataclysm that will transform the earth. On the first situation, the three phases occurred, meanwhile on the second one only the first phase.
