Introduction: Today, disability is a growing phenomenon. Despite advances and modernization, people with mobility disabilities face significant challenges in accessing adequate and timely health care services. These challenges result from the countless barriers that not only limit their physical and mental well-being but also exacerbate social inequalities. Objective: To identify the main barriers faced by people with mobility disabilities in accessing healthcare in Panama. Methodology: A descriptive cross-sectional methodology was used, with non-probabilistic convenience sampling. A survey was employed as the research technique, using an adapted version of the Model Disability Survey as the instrument. Results: The main barriers affecting healthcare for people with disabilities are transportation, financial constraints, and the design of infrastructure, roads, and communities, where transportation is the factor that most significantly impacts them. Conclusion: Most respondents face significant difficulties managing their health and receiving needed health care. There is a lack of access to services, information, and resources, thus hindering a good quality of life. This study provides a foundation demonstrating the pressing need to analyze existing policies, raise awareness, and adopt a comprehensive approach to address all barriers that interfere with this group’s independence, causing disability and affecting their well-being.
