This article, based on a qualitative study through a literature review - analysis and understanding - evaluates the importance of universal accessibility in Panamanian natural and cultural tourism environments. Nowadays, when the demand of people with disabilities is growing, many tourist destinations have adopted the corresponding measures in order to satisfy the needs of this market segment, which represents an important value for their economies. Therefore, accessible tourism becomes a necessary element and is not only a human rights issue, but on the contrary, it becomes a business opportunity, being good for everyone. This bibliographic review has made it possible to reproduce the theoretical foundations and findings obtained by other researchers, academics and professionals who, from a critical, explicit and social perspective, have contributed to the construction of knowledge of the problems addressed, and have also made it possible to conclude that, despite having a great variety of natural and cultural resources in our country, the will on the part of the actors still does not exist, The will on the part of the actors is still not sufficient to channel and develop this type of tourism, which is why it should be emphasised that the most effective way is to guarantee through governance (State, private companies and civil society) actions and strategies aimed at promoting in an effective and efficient manner, to be able to achieve the goal of becoming an "Accessible Destination" in the future.
