The article shows an analysis of higher education in the post-pandemic context, which identifies the need for changes in student and teacher profiles, as well as labor demands in the context of Mexico. A systematization of the characteristics of educational models is presented to raise the needs for their transformation in the present, based on the historical and conceptual study of educational processes. The axis of the research is the analysis of the updating of higher education, based on the change and application of the model of the Technological Institute of Monterrey (ITESM), which allows the elaboration of a proposal that guides attention to the socio-emotional aspects of the student, as the basis of a personalized, flexible and adaptive educational model. The research adopts a qualitative approach, which uses bibliographic search and interpretation techniques and historical-logical analysis. The proposal focuses on competency-based education, which includes social-emotional and digital skills and critical thinking. The results of this study achieve a proposal for a post-pandemic model, of a flexible and situated nature, that can be applied in higher education institutions in Mexico.
