This scientific article aims to show the importance of clinical criminology as an area of study in universities, and also addresses its task as an ally for the prevention of violence in society. The publications of the most prominent academics in the area of criminology in Mexico and the various scientific theories on the subject of studies were reviewed, with the objective of knowing the attitudes and skills that a criminologist must develop to carry out clinical practice. The article shows the difficulties that must be overcome by criminologists to carry out a professional and effective clinical intervention. The reader will learn the necessary tools to apply a criminological clinical interview, its study, diagnosis and recommend a possible treatment to the person who needs it. Finally, this article shows us an intervention for the prevention of violent behavior, providing a space that respects the rights and integrity of people who for some reason committed a crime.
