Abstract

In 2024, a survey was carried out in the province of Panama Oeste to evaluate the opinions and preferences of consumers regarding melon jam. The main objective of the study was to understand the acceptance of the product in the local market, identify consumption patterns and explore its commercial potential. The survey covered different districts of the province and considered a representative sample of the population, taking into account factors such as age, gender and socioeconomic level. The results showed a favorable response towards the idea of melon jam. A high percentage of those surveyed expressed interest in trying this product, highlighting the use of natural ingredients and the promotion of local products as desirable attributes. In addition, the value for money was identified as a determining factor for the purchase. This study not only revealed the potential of melon jam as an innovative alternative in the local market, but also highlighted the importance of effective promotion strategies to educate the consumer and position the product. The findings will serve as the basis for future business initiatives in Panama Oeste, aimed at developing sustainable products that take advantage of the region's agricultural resources.

This project reinforces the connection between local production and the diversification of the food supply.
