Abstract

Scientific journals play an indispensable role in the rapid communication of research results between researchers from different scientific communities, as well as being a determining factor in the quality of research in higher education institutions. The University of Panama, one of the 5 official universities in the country, and with 22 peer-reviewed journals, 14 indexed in the Latindex Catalog, and Amelica should expand the visibility of its scientific production and the impact it brings in postmodern times. In this scenario, four quality parameters were examined: standardization, organizational structure of the editorial team, content quality, and visibility of seven indexed multidisciplinary scientific journals. The findings of the study indicate that the Registry criteria are met: ISSN and DOI, compliance with the periodicity, Editorial Structure made up of director, thematic editor, scientific committee, technical committee responsible for writing style, marking and layout; however, inbreeding is maintained in the structure of the editorial team (87.3%); double-blind arbitration; with visibility in Google Scholar, ROAD, MIAR, AmeliCA and Latindex. It is recommended to expand the structure of its editorial committees with the integration of external editors to the institution to increase the visibility of the published content.
