The objective of this article is to know the repercussions of the confinement policies due to COVID-19 in the labor market in Panama; pointing out in advance that there were many actions carried out by the presidency of the republic together with the Ministry of Health (MINSA); from the total closure of companies to quarantine for the entire Isthmian population. These facts bring with them a series of measures that will be detailed in the development of this highly relevant article for understanding the current crisis in the national economy.
The methodology used in the development of this article is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach on the bibliographic sources that show evidence on the consequences of COVID-19 in the labor market in Panama from 2020 to the present.
The results of the measures that the government took regarding the confinement policies due to COVID-19 in the labor market in Panama, brought an increase in unemployment, informal work, an increase in external debt, and a high cost in the basic basket. and gasoline, definitive closures of companies, millionaire losses in several companies in Panama.
It is concluded that the confinement policies due to COVID-19 generated losses in the labor market in Panama; that will be corrected over the years, as long as public affairs are managed with true commitment and eliminating the worst causes, which are corruption and partisan politics.
