The present study focuses on determining the nutritional status of certain vulnerable groups in peri-urban neighborhoods of the province of Los Ríos, 2018, such as children between 1 to 10 years old and the elderly. It is aimed at mitigating the most common nutritional pathologies, in order to improve the quality of life of said community. The methodology applied in the research was quantitative and was carried out through the application of surveys to residents of the sectors of the province of Los Ríos by the students and professors of the Nutrition and Dietetics Career. The study had a descriptive character. The questions were aimed at inquiring about the most frequent diseases that affect the population, access to community health services, reception and handling of food, knowledge about nutrition, food and food hygiene. The results show a high incidence of nutritional disorders, and diabetes, in conclusion, the nutritional status of children and older adults subject to the study was determined, where it was evidenced that 72% of children and 80.5 of adults presented nutritional ailments, as well as metabolic alterations. anemia, malnutrition, overweight and obesity
