The accelerated population growth in the District of La Chorrera, one of the areas of greatest expansion in the Province of Western Panama, has caused increasing pressure on water resources, posing challenges not only from the point of view of its distribution, but also in terms of sustainability and long-term planning. Faced with this panorama, the objective of this research arises to theoretically-documentarily analyze the challenges posed by population growth in the District of La Chorrera in relation to drinking water management, identifying sustainable strategies that contribute to efficient and resilient management of water resources. The methodology used was a qualitative approach, with a bibliographic, documentary-analytical design. (25) academic sources were selected corresponding to scientific articles and digital business reports, consulted in the Scopus, JSTOR and ProQuest databases. Published between 2018 and 2023. The documents were chosen for their relevance in issues of population growth, drinking water management, sustainable development. The technique used was content analysis and the bibliographic matrix instrument. The results indicate a direct association between population growth and water demand. Population growth in La Chorrera presents significant challenges for drinking water management, requiring sustainable approaches that optimize the use of the resource and strengthen the existing infrastructure to ensure an adequate and equitable supply in the long term.
