The influence of Spanish on Amerindian languages in diverse multilingual and multicultural contexts is a current topic that is being discussed by many specialists. This study analyzes the influence of the Spanish language on the Ngäbere language of students of the Ngäbe ethnic group at Normal Juan Demóstenes Arosemena School in Santiago de Veraguas, Republic of Panama, with a sample of 34 students in the twelfth grade of the Pedagogical Baccalaureate, who come from different regions of the country, in which a survey originally designed by (Herrera 2021) was adapted to gather the information. According to the results, 91.2% feel comfortable in the use of the native language in their homes, 70.6% had their first interaction with Spanish through their parents and 64.7% affirm a high degree of influence of the Spanish language. It was concluded that the influence of the Spanish language in the native language of the students has relegated its use to the family environment, despite the fact that the first interaction and improvement of the learning of words in Spanish was at home, with their parents; the comfort to express themselves in their native language does not exist for the rest of their social environment.
