Printed materials and their use continue to be a concern in terms of environmental sustainability and continuous improvement in universities. Therefore, this research focuses on analyzing the reduction of paper use in higher education to contribute to the care of the environment. A descriptive bibliographic methodology was used, for which a systematic review of scientific articles and portals of international organizations was carried out; concluding that many universities have created awareness about this problem, which has allowed promoting "zero paper" plans in favor of the environment, reducing the use of paper, use of ICT and being attentive to recycling, is considered one of the ways in which universities can help and contribute to global climate change.
