This article presents the research carried out in the General Basic Education of the district of Santiago, Veraguas, to know about the conditions that students reach in school for the practice of the culture of peace and citizenship. The information was obtained by consulting students and teachers on the specific experience’s observable in the classroom in relation to the practice of active citizenship and culture of peace, as well as the strategies used to promote these values in the classroom. It is concluded that the practice of active citizenship depends on the strength shown by the culture of peace and the values related to it, in the training given in the classroom.
