Academic procrastination is a phenomenon that affects the academic performance and mental health of students worldwide, which is why the following study aimed to investigate the status of a group of university students in Panama regarding this phenomenon. Through a descriptive correlational study of non-experimental design and cross-section, 70 students of both genders who were studying Psychology at Universidad de Panamá were investigated. Through the use of descriptive statistics and the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, it was concluded that these students presented high levels of academic procrastination, in addition to this, 49% of them manifested behaviors such as postponing academic tasks at high levels and 44% manifested have a low level of academic self-regulation; traits that show the possible existence of difficulties in academic life.
