To identify potential predators and parasitoids of D. tabernella in sugarcane, different stages of G. mellonella were used as sentinel prey during a 12 month period in sugarcane fields in Panama. A total of 2233 arthropods were captured and the Formicidae was the predominant family with 6 species collected. The most abundant species were: Solenopsis sp. (63%) and Camponotus spp. (15.6%). The species with the highest impact on eggs, larvae and pupae of G. mellonella (+84.1% predation) were Linepithema sp., Camponotus spp. and Ectatomma sp. (Hymenoptera: Formicidae). There is a potential use of G. mellonella in sugarcane as a sentinel prey to identify entomofauna and suppressive species on stemborers, mainly Formicidae.
