Abstract

Written communication represents a necessary condition for the complete development of the person as an individual and part of society; It is an instrument that includes the correct command of spelling, an aspect that society values, since it sees individuals who master spelling with a good social and professional image, but not those with poor or deficient spelling. It is a research with a quantitative approach, of a descriptive non-experimental transectional scope, about the spelling problems presented by students of the Degree in Primary Education of the Regional University Center of Veraguas, future teachers responsible for teaching children's writing. This research was developed with the objective of knowing the level of competence in the use of the capital letter, use of the accent, use of graphemes and punctuation marks and identify the deficiencies that students of the degree in Primary Education, for which a written test with a value of 90 points was applied, which was scored according to the estimating scale, attending to the criteria of excellent, satisfactory, fair and poor. According to the results of the written test, it is evident that, in general, the level of competence of students from year I to IV of the Bachelor of Primary Education is excellent, and that they only need to reinforce the scoring area, since the most marked regular in this spelling area. Based on these results, a proposal is presented focused on the neurolinguistic programming strategy, in order to help young people, improve their skills, since writing is considered essential throughout schooling and professional life.
