Abstract

In the article, an analysis is presented in order to identify the meaning degree that is interpreted through the lyrics of Decisions song by Rubén Blades, It means, It is intended to recognize the linguistic contribution that this composition offers. The objective of this study is to apply an analysis scheme that appropriates the meanings that the singer-songwriter gives to the words, which often represent the language of a town or a neighborhood, which powerfully influence people linguistic habits until determining the lexical-semantic characteristics. Regarding the methodological aspect, It is a qualitative - descriptive research, supported by bibliographic analysis and the guidelines that linguistics requires for these types of studies, as a scientific discipline. The analysis results show that Blades is characterized by raising situations and social issues with great success, where both the lexical and semantic aspects are essential to know the communicative intention that the discourse own and that allows its interpretation. The use of the songs lyrics by Rubén Blades is suggested for teaching the language to students at any level of schooling, since through these types of analysis the necessary skills are acquired to enrich the vocabulary in order to understand, comprehend and interpret the global meaning of a text and achieve better communication.
