The objective of the research is to identify the preference for social networks as an information medium of generation Z and Millennials, about the educators' strike, 2022-23 in Santiago de Veraguas. The sample applies to young people between the ages of (23-41), considered within generation Z and Millennials. This study is qualitative, cross-sectional, non-experimental, descriptive type. The technique for collecting information was intentional as a pilot test for 31 professionals (16) graduates of the Faculty of Social Communication, from the Regional Center of Veraguas CRUV and (15) teachers from the San Martín de Porres Bilingual School through the form tool. from Google Forms, with 15 questions, validated by experts, 14 multiple choice questions and 1 opinion question. The results show that 84. (26) are informed of news events through social networks, 13% (4) Television, in terms of social networks that allow them to obtain information instantly, in the case of the strike teacher, Instagram 68% (21), WhatsApp 16% (5), Twitter 13% (4), TikTok 3% (1); by the importance and impact for decision-making on the information received by the networks about the strike events that occurred in the country, always 42%(13), almost always 29(9), sometimes 19(6), almost never 10 (3). In conclusion, generation Z and Millennials from the district of Santiago, Province of Veraguas, use social networks as the first option to find out about events that occurred at a historical moment, due to the speed, fluidity and ease of owning a mobile device (Smartphone).
