Abstract

ABSTRACT: Bioethics is a science that uses dialogue to resolve life and health issues that occur during medical research and practice. During the last century, situations arose in which human integrity was compromised and basic rights were violated. These events were fundamental for the future of humanity and gave bioethics an obligatory nature.

The rapid advance of bioethics in the 1970s led to industrialized nations composing regulations. However, developing nations have also made considerable progress in establishing standards.

It has been difficult for Latin America to regulate bioethics because of its different and disparate economies.

We conclude that Panama, during the last decade, has made considerable progress in bioethics.
