This article aims to guide the process of continuous training that the professor of the University of Panama goes through during his academic career. In the first section, some approaches to continuous education are presented under the university educational model. The second section presents a scenario of Continuous Education, in particular updating and professional training of the university teacher through the legal framework and the infrastructure that supports it.
The third section presents the context and the competences that the professor of the University of Panama faced with a permanent changing society. In short, the continuous education process must contemplate both the traditional and the contemporary approach, if knowledge is to be generated, impact on learning and solve problems that society demands.
