Abstract

The present study evaluates adherence to pharmacotherapeutic treatment in polymedicated elderly patients who are part of the adult health program at the Chilibre Health Center. This is a descriptive study carried out in 10 patients with chronic diseases, in which an eight-week follow-up was carried out with the use of a personalized dosing system. The Morisky-Green and Haynes-Sackett tests were used for data collection and evaluation of results. Of the total study participants, 90.0% had low adherence to treatment, followed by 10.0% with medium adherence. After using the SPD-VENALINK®, it was found that 100.0% of the study participants presented high adherence. Personalized dosing systems are a fundamental and essential tool to avoid drug-related problems in polymedicated patients with chronic diseases.
