Innovation can solve problems, when it is put into use or accepted, and it will be successful when implemented in a determined system, considering the different factors that influence its adoption and production of positive results. Among the causes that can be identified in the failure of an innovation there is the lack of communication at all levels of the organization, so that "entanglement" is considered as the establishment of relationships between the actors who participate in a social organization of a certain innovation, for the exchange of ideas and experiences perfecting the applied innovation. This article analyzes the execution of an environmental-social project developed in 2012-2013 in the Balsapamba Rio Cristal-El Salto micro-basin, whose problems have been the lack of communication with the riverside communities, resulting in a low identification with the project and a scarce participation during the installation, conservation and its maintenance, in addition it evaluates the impact of the innovation in the quality of life of the inhabitants. The objective of the project was to recover the riverbanks through reforestation with species of guadua cane, guarantee the water supply in the community and reduce susceptibility to flooding. As a result, the deficit of communication and establishment of adequate social relations for the fulfillment of the objectives of the project in the long term is denoted, and it is concluded that the entanglement of new actors, the inclusion of farmers and the change from the linear innovation model to an entanglement model can rescue the work developed.
