An experiment was conducted to evaluate the response of maize to five nitrogen rates (0, 50, 100, 150 and 200 kg / ha) as urea, under the system of planting in rotation with the legume kudzu (Pueraria phaseoloides) two types of crops. We used the split-plot experimental design (tillage * dose of nitrogen). Main plots were evaluated tillage (conservation and conventional) and subplots doses of nitrogen. The plots were arranged in randomized complete block with three replications. In the plots with legume conservation tillage and some weeds present were cut and left on the field, while in conventional tillage plots, cut all the vegetative part of the kudzu plant and sat on the floor, with three monocultivador passes. We found highly significant response to the performance of maize, corn yield, for the residual effect of kudzu. Maize yields in plots where kudzu was used as cover were 4.6 t / ha, while in plots where kudzú was incorporated there were only 3.6 t / ha.
The corn yield response to nitrogen application resulted also highly significant for levels 0, 50, 100, 150 and 200 kg N / ha respectively. The average yield of maize decreased with passage from the 150 to 200 kg N / ha.
