Abstract

The island of Gardí Sugdub is one of the numerous islands that belong to the insular part of the San Blas archipelago where it is facing a critical threat due to subsidence and coastal erosion, for which this study analyzes the causes, including climate change. and erosion using satellite remote sensing methods and geostatistical analysis where accurate and up-to-date data is obtained to assess the magnitude and pace of subsidence where the findings suggest the need for urgent and coordinated action to address the underlying causes and develop solutions sustainable. This article offers a comprehensive view of the subsidence phenomenon of Gardí Sugdub Island, highlighting the importance of integrating scientific knowledge, traditional practices and advanced technology in environmental management.
