Abstract

This research explained how the evolution of the autonomy of the University of Panama in the various constitutions of the Republic of Panama has been. The evolution of higher education institutions in Panama was analyzed. The concept of university autonomy was conceptualized at a doctrinal and normative level and the treatment of the various constitutions of our republican era to the figure of university autonomy was studied. For this, the techniques of bibliographic review and normative interpretation were used. It was concluded that the evolution of the constitutional regulation of university autonomy has been to the detriment of the scope of the autonomy of the University of Panama, by not adapting to the legal, political and social evolution that this figure has had.
