Abstract

This bibliographical review is due to the examination of the first sources found in the framework of the investigation French Sciences in Panama: Knowledge, Identity and Republicanism in the "French Canal Era" 1876-1903. Our work addressed elements of French science and technology in Panama, seeking to demonstrate the exchange of knowledge between the Isthmus of Panama and the third French republic. We begin by contextualizing the French history of the 19th century, followed by the concepts and theories that guide us based on the theme, then the analysis of the works found, to finally discuss the results found in the first stage of the investigation.
