The article analyzes some representations indicative of authoritarianism practices in the present time of Brazil's recent history, especially with the experience of the ultra-right government (2018-2022). For this it makes use of a set of images and news published in various periodicals in Brazil representing the authoritarian discourse in defense of the dictatorial past. The research indicates the marked presence of authoritarian practices and the defense of the military dictatorship as constituent components of part of Brazilian society in the present time and signals the challenges for History and its teaching in Brazil.
