Instagram is currently the fastest growing social network. In April 2017, this platform reached 700 million active users in the world, a figure that represents double its social base compared to April 2015 and, in addition, represents an increase of 100 million new users. This social network has more than double the users of, for example, Twitter (320 million). Launched in October 2010. Instagram is a free social network based on sharing photographs, videos and comments between accounts, initially only for Apple users and starting in 2012 after being purchased by Facebook, also on Android. It is designed to be run on a smartphone and not on a computer. Through Instagram, you can communicate visually and transmit messages creatively. Additionally, you can interact with other users through comments, direct messages, and tags. The general objective is to analyze the effectiveness of the social network Instagram, as a tool to communicate in times of pandemic in Panama. The methodology used was an exploratory, descriptive research, in order to expand the information regarding the topic and describe the reality of a situation, according to the opinions of the study subjects linked to the Instagram account, total numbers of likes on Instagram. A questionnaire was used to obtain results that
indicated that Instagram is an effective and extremely important tool in the information medium, since it allows interactivity in users and is available with advertising content, information, fashions, among others. It is concluded that this tool is an interactive social communication network platform that allows thousands of users who use the social network to find informative and interesting content, since according to statistics Instagram is a social network, most used today by users (young and adults of different ages).
