Abstract

A list of the richness and abundance of the birds in Summit Municipal Park is presented. The study was conducted in all areas of free public access and restricted areas. Two methodologies were used for this study: capture by means of mist nets and generalized search. From July to December 2018, 34 samples were taken with a total effort of 1,708 hours. We registered a total of 3,420 individuals distributed in 197 species, 37 families and 16 orders, being Passeriformes with 1,604 (46.90%) individuals, 127 (64.46%) species, the most representative taxon. A total of 167 species of resident birds and 30 species of migratory bird were recorded. With the mist nets 373 individuals were registered distributed in 70 species, 21 families and seven orders, while with the generalized search 3,047 individuals were registered distributed in 173 species, 36 families and 16 orders. In addition, 37 important species in conservation were registered, according to the lists presented by Mi Ambiente, CITES and IUCN being Accipitriformes, Apodiformes and Passeriformes, the most representative orders.
