Abstract

The Fortuna Forest Reserva is located in Norwest of Panama, over 1,200 msnm. This region is very wet, with 4,000 mm/year and an average temperature of 16 ºC. There are flora researches in the Reserve, but is necessary to do more plant collects and studies. According to the research made in Fortuna, there are 1,546 vascular plant species (Angiosperm, Gymnosperm and Ferns). The Magnoliopsida is the group with most different species, but the family Orchidaceae of the Liliopsida group has the best representation (201). With new research is possible to find other species, because Fortune needs more research. The Flora of Fortune has threatened and protected species for CITES and The UICN Red List of Threatened species. The Fortuna Forest Reserve is part of the Biosphere Reserve La Amistad – Panamá.
