The purpose of this research is to analyze the distribution of primary schools in Panama according to their location in urban and rural areas, as well as to identify the proportion of educational centers that do or do not have adequate pedestrian infrastructure, specifically sidewalks in their immediate surroundings. Through this analysis, the study aims to highlight the current state of road safety faced by students on their journeys to and from school. The research is conducted through the application of the Star Rating for Schools methodology, which allows for a standardized assessment of road risk levels in school zones by considering factors related to infrastructure, traffic conditions, and pedestrian safety. The results will make it possible to identify existing gaps between urban and rural contexts and will serve as a technical input for the development of strategies aimed at improving road safety conditions in primary schools across the country.
